RTHK

I was a technical news producer, reporter, presenter, newsreader, and sub-editor for the English unit of the radio division of Hong Kong’s public broadcaster. Duties included producing and presenting the station’s flagship current affairs programmes Hong Kong Today and Newswrap, as well as the station’s hourly news bulletins. I cover international news and local Hong Kong stories; this involves looking for international stories in the news wires, as well as covering day-to-day local news like the government’s Covid-19 press briefings.

COCONUTS MEDIA

Associate Editor for Coconuts Media’s Hong Kong website. Duties include writing news articles and features, food and lifestyle pieces, taking photographs for those pieces and maintaining the website’s social media accounts. Articles I have written include a news feature about the clean-up efforts at a protest site following the extradition bill demonstrations on June 12, 2019; a feature piece about an evangelical Christian theme park; and an interview with a local band called GDJYB who sing about social and political issues in “Kongish.”

WARNER BROS. INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION PRODUCTION BELGIE

Fixer for an eight-part Belgian documentary series comparing Belgium with different parts of the world called Op Eén. The episode compared housing in Belgium with Hong Kong and Australia, two parts of the world where people live in the smallest and largest homes, and was aired on public Dutch-language TV station Eén. Duties included translating and researching, booking interviewees and transport, and proposing filming locations.

INSTANTER

Sub-editor for a website that covers the Asian loans market. Duties included maintaining the website's database, checking stock exchange announcements, research, calling bankers for updates, and promoting the website at networking events.

BNN-VARA

Fixer for a six-part documentary on press freedom around the world called The Pen and the Sword. The final episode focused on Hong Kong and was broadcast in May 2016. Duties included research, arranging transport, translating, booking interviewees, and proposing filming locations.

Reporter covering local and international stories. Duties included writing and proof-reading scripts, recording and editing video reports, and manning the teleprompter during live television broadcasts.

Hong Kong Free Press 

Reporter covering stories such as the case of the protester who was convicted for “assaulting a police officer with her breast”, and the UK government's decision not to grant Chinese artist Ai Weiwei a business visa to the UK. Duties included monitoring social media, editing articles, compiling photo galleries, and promoting the website's crowd-funding campaign.

Intern reporter for the broadcaster's Hong Kong office writing local and international stories such as reactions to the film The Interview being pulled from cinemas, the case of the girl who was arrested for drawing a chalk flower on a wall near a former Umbrella Movement protest site, and disability discrimination in Hong Kong.

Freelance producer on a documentary about Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement, which featured profiles of six protestors. My segment was about a protester who was frustrated the movement had reached a stalemate and called for radical action. It was awarded the grand student prize at the 2015 Human Rights Awards in Hong Kong.
